Project Overview

Hotel L’Embitu stands at the heart of Tallinn, just steps away from the Opera House and the Old Town, nestled among major business centres. The hotel comprises 125 rooms, an elegant Roof restaurant, a comprehensive conference complex, a sophisticated lobby, a wine room, and a serene spa.

The mission was to design a superior-class hotel that caters to the discerning tastes of business clients and high-level travellers. This complex and captivating project involved the integration and renovation of a historic late 19th-century building and a 1970s office building, along with partial demolition and new construction, all merged into a unified modern complex.

Design Challenge and Solution

The core challenge was to harmonize the historical and modern elements into a seamless, luxurious experience. The integration required careful planning and execution, respecting heritage conservation rules while meeting contemporary hospitality standards.

On the first floor, the main lounge—the lobby—serves as the hotel’s face, designed to leave a lasting first impression. The elegant, dark wooden panels and exquisite light fixtures provide a tranquil and luxurious ambience (in collaboration with Tarmo Luisk. The floral chandelier and garden-themed lobby bar wall bring an essence of natural beauty indoors.

Architectural Integration

The project meticulously followed EHRL requirements, heritage preservation mandates, and operator specifications to ensure maximum comfort, high design standards, and functionality for hotel guests.

Hotel L’Embitu embodies a perfect fusion of historical charm and modern luxury, offering guests an unparalleled experience in the vibrant centre of Tallinn.
